The President Slow Jams the News

Hey CityLover Readers! This Jimmy Fallon video is about "Slow Jamming the News" starring Jimmy Fallon, Barack Obama and The Roots. The important message of this video is that the college education should be less expensive without increasing the interest rate on student loans.  (Read more on CityLover's World "President Barack Obama's Speech on Affordable College Education".)

I hope you find this video hilarious and informational!

President Barack Obama's Speech on Affordble College Education

Recently I attended President Barack Obama's speech on affordable college education. My parents and I waited in line for five hours before we were able to see him. His speech was very inspiring for many people.

When college students need federal student loans, they pay interest on them similar to all other loans, but on July 1st this year, the interest rate will double, so President Barack Obama is trying to stop that from happening. He also said that before he and Michelle got married, they were both poor and that they had a mountain of student loans to pay. But after they got married, they grew even poorer. They paid all their student loans just eight years ago. President Barack Obama included many things in his speech such as telling Congress--"Don't double my rate!"

I think this speech is important because by the time I go to college, college education will be very expensive, and I sincerely hope that this does not happen, not just for me, but for anybody. I support Barack Obama very much on this issue.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post.

My Review on Worst Enemies/Best Friends by Annie Bryant

Worst Enemies/Best Friends is the first book featuring The Beacon Street Girls written by Annie Bryant. Katani, Charlotte, Maeve, and Avery struggle through their first year of Abigail Adams Junior High School. They all hate each other for a specific reason.. Will they ever become best friends? Read on to find out.
Charlotte just moved to Massachusetts from Paris. Her mom is dead and her dad is a writer and the two of them move from place to place periodically. This time, Charlotte got to choose their next destination and she chose Massachusetts, where they used to live before her mom passed away. She loves her new school. She admires the principal, her teacher and some of her classmates. On her first day, she accidentally creates a food fight and her table lunch group, Katani and Maeve hate her for it. Avery thinks she's kind of cool, not totally, but in the middle.

Katani's grandmother is the principal. Her grandmother loves Charlotte from the first day. Katani hates Maeve because in her opinion, Maeve is a spoiled rich girl just because she brings a laptop to school and does all her work on that and her family has a movie theater. In Katani's opinion, Avery is a sporty tomboy with no sense of fashion or organization.

Avery is an adopted child from Korea with divorced foster parents. And again, Katani and Maeve are too girly for her and Charlotte is not athletic. Will she ever find best friends?

Maeve holds a desperate secret about her education. She has no best friends. Katani is tall and mean, Charlotte created a food fight, and Avery is an athletic tomboy.

Once all four girls' teacher, Ms. Rodriguez finds out about their "friendship", she forces the girls to have a sleepover. Katani, Maeve, Avery, and Charlotte all aren't fond of the idea, but they go for it. They all spill their secrets at the sleepover and eventually adopt a dog, Marty, who they secretly keep. And finally, they become the best friends they should have been a long time ago.

If I were to rate this book between a 1-10, I'd rate it a 8.5 because it's a page-flipper! The story of all these girls' life is so interesting.

I hope you enjoy this book just like I did!

Track Practice and an Unusual Cat

A few days ago, I visited the high school near me in the evening and the teens from the school were practicing for their track meet. Everywhere I looked, teens were stretching, running, talking, or cheering! I decided to take a few pictures of these very athletic teenagers. Here are a few of the pictures!

A fast sprinter.

Two participants in a relay race.
A trio-colored cat came up to our porch so I thought I'd take a couple of pictures. She was adorable and it seemed like she was posing for me. Below are some of the pictures I took.
This picture reminds me of a tiger looking straight at you. I was a bit hesitant to take this picture because I was a little frightened.

She looks so furry, doesn't she?!
I felt like she posed for me when I took this picture.

When I took this picture, for a second I thought she was going to fall down!
