Review | Avengers: Age of Ultron

The Age of Ultron is a MUST SEE movie for anyone who likes action/adventure, superheroes, and sci-fi. It is about a program called Ultron which tries to take over the world and causes the Avengers to reassemble and fight against it. Click HERE for an in-depth summary of this movie.

I really loved the plot and story line. The trailer was a bit depressing and serious when I first saw it, but the movie is nothing like the trailer. Like the previous movie, it had more than a few parts of humor and comedy. One of my favorite aspects in this movie is the fact that you can view the life the Avenger had before they came in touch with S.H.I.E.L.D. I won't spoil it for you, but I learned a lot about the background of some characters that I did not know before.

If you have watched the previous Marvel movies connected to the Avengers and if you get a chance to see the Age of Ultron, there is a lot of character development going on, through all the movies. It really is a great movie that I recommend to everyone. Out of 10, I would give it a 7 because it has humor, intense action, and a splendid plot.

Review: Insurgent

I recently watched Insurgent (after reading the book, of course :D) with my close friends and to be honest, I was surprised the way the movie was put together. For those of you who aren't familiar with the Divergent series, Insurgent is the second part to Divergent. The movie is about a girl named Tris who was in an almost perfect society, but strong forces threatened to pull the society apart. The book has more content than the movie (duh), but compared to the Harry Potter series or The Hunger Games series, the movie is less like the book in many ways. 

If you already read Insurgent, be prepared to be a bit disappointed with the level of organization  and the change of direction of the movie, but the story line and plot was still not bad. If you haven't read the book (READ IT), I would recommend the movie, but watching Divergent would be a good idea, otherwise, you won't understand anything. 

The acting was great, and featured Hollywood stars like Kate Winslet, Ray Stevenson and Octavia Spencer. Also, the character that Shailene Woodley portrays is nothing like Tris from the book. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the change of the plot and the way Tris was shown in the movie. My rating out of ten, would be a 3.5-4. I would watch it for the first time, but probably not for the second. 

Paper Towns: Review

Paper Towns is an intriguing novel by John Green, who is the author of The Fault in Our Stars, which is also a movie. Later this year, a film adaptation of Paper Towns will be released, so I knew I had to read the book before I saw the movie.


This book is about a girl named Margo (she is one of a kind, really), who runs away leaving clues about where she went to an average kid, Quentin (Q), who is her neighbor. But, before she ran away, Q and Margo spent her last night in town, playing a few pranks and whatnot. The next day, Q doesn't see her at school or at the house. She has gone missing. He believes it's up to him to find her.

I really love this book because John Green, the author, really makes you think in a different perspective. Because Margo is described as a very unusual teen girl, the book makes you want to question everything she does. 

If I were to rate this, I would give it a 6 or 6.5 because some parts in the book are really unnecessary, and there are two places where this happens: First, when Q and his friends go on a road trip to find Margo, and second, when they find her. I guess for the movie it would be fine and interesting, but reading it is kind of...boring and doesn't make you think. But overall, I recommend this book to any mystery loving reader out there. If you're a fan of John Green, I also encourage you to read it. It's really great and you won't regret it.

My Review on Snowpiercer

Snowpiercer (an adaptation of a French graphic novel) is an undoubtably well-made film by director Bong Joon-ho, with male lead Chris Evans. As a fanatic of Evans, I certainly enjoyed his acting in this adventurous sci-fi.

This film takes place in the future where the entire planet has been frozen due to a chemical. The human race is almost extinct, but some have survived. The lucky survivors live on a train and the society on the train is very similar to the Hunger Games trilogy society. I don't want to spill the beans, so I won't say what happens on the train. (The poor basically have to fight their way to the front of the train where the wealthy live.)

There are many talented actors in this movie and I truly admired their performance. This movie has a really meaningful theme and would encourage all sci-fi and/or action-packed movie lovers to watch this film. It is rated-R for language, violence, and some disturbing images due to violence, but as a young teenager, I think mature youngsters that can easily handle frightening fighting and bad language will really enjoy this movie. Overall, this movie really changed my view on society and people's way of life.
