My Stand on Feminism

First of all, many people take the word "feminism" in the wrong direction. Or maybe the word itself can have multiple perspectives. Let me start out by informing you what exactly feminism is. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, feminism means, "The belief that men and women should have equal rights and oppurtunities." Personally, I am still confused on that term. If men and women can have equal rights, why is the topic still a controversy? To be completely honest with you, I don't know. But, I do know that many people either think feminism is "women rebelling against their roles in nature" or "the view that female is the over-powering gender" or "feminists are man-haters". All three of those statements are LIES. I am a feminist. We are in the 21st century, and still, a woman makes 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. Women are treated differently than men. Sometimes it's in a positive way, but it bothers me to think of the fact that many think women are weaker, more emotional then men.

Below is a video I found on Ted Talks, and the speaker, Sheryl Sandberg, is the COO of Facebook. I have seen this speech multiple times, and I just think it is fascinating. Please watch it and remember to keep an open mind!
