Happy Diwali

Happy Diwali, everybody! For those of you who don't know what Diwali is, it is the Festival of Lights. Diwali is also known as Deepawali. In Hindi, that means 'row of lamps'. Diwali is celebrated with fireworks, sparklers, delicious sweets, and tasty food.

Diwali is celebrated for usually 3-4 days. Back in India, kids don't go to school, they have fun, and pray to their gods. Adults do the same.

After the day of Diwali, Annakoot, people pray to the mountain of food. Legend says, when Lord Krishna, a god, was little, he told the people to pray to the mountain instead of the rain god, Lord Indra. Lord Indra got angry and made it rain continuously for one whole week!! So the little, but brave god, Lord Krishna lifted his finger and let the animals and the people go under it. The mountain of food had water and food for them. This is called Govardhan Puja.

Once again, Happy Diwali!!
